paradox

If it is true that all actions are events and that all events are necessarily caused by previous events, then adding the claim that some human actions are not caused by previous events (are free) creates a situation in which not all of these claims can be true together.

If we are morally bound to, and capable of, upholding our promises, then the fact that we sometimes make promises we cannot keep means something is amiss.
